DOFF Failed Mission Idea

So, when a DOFF assignment fails, and it states a reason (such as "ambushed" or something), what if that led to an instanced mission where you could personally go and rectify the situation. If your DOFF got ambushed and is stranded, your mission would be to fight of the ambushers and rescue your DOFF. It would lead to a) success in the doff mission, and b) potential additional rewards for that mission (xp, EC, etc.) over and above the original DOFF mission (thus motivation to do the mission rather than accept the loss).
Similar for missions that state some kind of natural disaster or something that's "fixable" by the presence of you in your starship, or you with your ground forces. Scanning missions, ground or space combat missions, or even conversation missions, all could be added to failure instances.
I think it would add spice to the DOFF system (rather than JUST being a grind for benefits), and could possibly lead to some fun story arcs. It would also add a little more inclusivity of the DOFFs as really part of your crew, if you had to go rescue them.
