Yes, I play Space Barbies all the time

Yes. Almost all of my current characters, ships and crew are themed in some way to fit some light RP/background idea more than some "meta" and modelled to suit. I do try to have it make sense for the game background though, no superheroes or FF/Warcraft escapees :)

Even bought C-Store and Lobi costumes and gear for that purpose. And i'm always tinkering with them to make them look "just right". Some days I think I spend more time doing that than playing the game, especially while setting up a new crew.

Most recently, a Lukari crew to fit the event ship and reworking my Temporal Recruit and her crew as STID Section 31 (with a 250 million EC ship purchase and C-store costume repurpose !). Takes a bit of head canon gymnastics to make it fit the storyline though, if I'm in the mood to go into that much detail.

Not bad :) Though the eyes would need to be a bit bigger. Otherwise, really good :)

No, it's just the default :)
Since the default look is what shows up in videos for games (see trailers for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and so on) doesn't that make it canon?

It just seems to me like making your character non-canon and irrelevant in the Star Trek Online storyline would be counter-productive, I guess.

Of course I do! Not -all- the time, though, so I won't vote with that option.

I'd spend a lot more zen on cosmetics, if the goodies were offered as account unlocks in the C-store rather than stuffed into lockboxes to nickle-and-dime people on a per-character basis. If I buy new clothing, I want it to be usable on all my barbies.

You can name your outfits anything you want. Or maybe there's a profanity filter on it like ships, I don't know I haven't tried.

Also STO is not Mass Effect (thank goodness).

Head over to the tailor, select one of your uniforms, and down at the bottom where it says "Wear/Rename/Create/Modify"... select Rename.

Or are you on console? Don't know if/how the interface is different there. :/

Ehhhehe, I know *I* definitely do Space Barbie, as a LOT of players know! (hi @rattler2 ~-~º(^v~)ºv~-~ )Tailor Mastery is one of my best personal traits actually, and I've been working on my different ships as well! To be honest, sometimes I spend more time in the Tailor than playing STFs, ahhhahaaaa.....

Although here's my OWN ingame ship re-design! I call it....the Escalation-class Battlecruiser! (I named it that BEFORE Season 13 even came out btw ~-~º(^_^')ºv~-~)

Ohhh, and if you wanna see my various outfits, just send me a tell ingame, it's easier to show them that way : )

And once again, in the name of the Moon, I wholeheartedly support the UNRESTRICTION of the Tailor!

I can solo OffDuty Elite any day...

And yes, I have multiple outfits on all toons, named after what they are (duty, fleet, off duty, summer, swimwear, winter, dress uniform, disco, robes for spiritual occasions, the like). Also different styles of uniforms for all toons (except for one rom, where no two boffs wear the same outfit by design). Also kitbashing on ships (though admittedly only on "main ships", not ones I just unpack to get the mastery). And none of my boffs is named "SRO Eng 3".

And with boffs: I prefer the "out of the box" look in theory, but many are too similar, and certain boffs are just absolutely identical, which doesn't really help. Named boffs (Elisa, ...) stay as they are, only change uniforms, though. Also certain settings need to be addressed (while I would love some more stout guys'n'gals, the high tummy slider just makes them look silly).

Also kitbashing on ships (though admittedly only on "main ships", not ones I just unpack to get the mastery). And none of my boffs is named "SRO Eng 3".

I tend to follow a "design lineage" process with BOFF uniforms, which keeps a sense of uniformity while allowing for some freedom of expression and/or common sense applications.

For instance, on my AoY character, the standard duty uniform is the Sierra 1, but there are differences. Skavrin, for instance, wears a 23rd century short sleeved shirt because it makes more sense for someone who gets into the guts of things to fix them. Maggie Dalton (the captain) has her standard duty uniform, but in white instead of black to distinguish herself from the crew, but also has a secondary Away Mission uniform, which uses gray instead of white (like the rest of the crew), as well as an Assault version, which uses some of the fun greeblies for the chest, arms, and such. This also applies to her Away Team Roster, which is deliberately separate from the Bridge Crew Roster (damn you single uniform slots).
And with boffs: I prefer the "out of the box" look in theory, but many are too similar, and certain boffs are just absolutely identical, which doesn't really help. Named boffs (Elisa, ...) stay as they are, only change uniforms, though.

Heh, I managed to get two sets of nearly identical BOFFs on two characters.

One set is on N'Gora, my Federation Klingon, and is a pair of humans that look absolutely identical except for height (one was 5'6, the other 6'2), facial hair (one had it, one didn't), name, and some minor differences that are only noticeable if you're looking for them. So I matched up the heights, changed the names, matched the facial hair, and now they are twins. The only way to really tell them apart is that one wears an eyepatch (No, their names are NOT Tomax and Xamot, though the temptation was there).

The other set is on Raquel Siobhansdottir, my Romulan LibBorg. It's two Remans who, while not as identical as the twins above, are close enough to pass for sisters and, more bizarrely HAVE THE SAME NAME. Instead of going with the sisters route, though, I just made it a bizarre coincidence that they both look very similar with the same name (taking a page from the famous Will West and William West story, two men incarcerated at Leavenworth in the early 1900s who had the same name and looked nearly identical), In reality, they aren't related at all and have never even met each other until serving under Raquel.
Also certain settings need to be addressed (while I would love some more stout guys'n'gals, the high tummy slider just makes them look silly).

Oh come on, it's a good way to show a female character is pregnant...
Space Barbie Extraordinaire. Got a question about Space Barbie? Just ask.

    Things I want in STO:

    1) More character customization options such as more clothing options, letting the toon complexion affect the entire body, not just the head. Also a true RGB color picker applied to all costume and appearance options, which would allow for true appearance customization and homogenous colors instead of "this same exact color looks vastly different on two different pieces."
    2) Bridge customization, not bridge packs. Let us pick a general layout and adjust the color palette, console appearance, and chair types, as well as more ready room layout options.
    3) Customizable ground weapons, i.e. The aesthetic look of phaser dual pistols but they shoot antiproton bolts. For obvious reasons this would only apply to standard ground weapons.
    4) For the love of Q please revamp Plasma Ground Weapons. They look like demented Supersoakers right now.
    5) True Vanity Impulse and Deflector effects similar to Vanity Shields.
    6) A greater payout for hitting T6 Reputations. Currently it takes more time and resources to get from T5 to T6 than it does to get from nothing to T5. Make that grind really pay out at the end.
    7) Mirrorverse Refugee event similar to AoY/Delta/Gamma, complete with new Mirrorverse recruits for all factions.
    8) Independent Faction, because yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!

Thanks, and yes I know. Still tinkering with them, go back and forth on size since it looks wrong without the correct pupil type and it's more obvious with larger eyes. Still bigger than human though.

yep, even with my bridge officers. wish console versions had the option to save outfits and copy them to our bridge officers (or even other characters) instead of having to do them individually.

A duty uniform, that ds9 fighting jacket thingy, dress uniform and 3 set of off duty depending on the situation. Though with Risa lightning broken its down to 2...

The rest i just put in regulation-compliant uniforms.

Yes, on occasion I'll play around with my toons in the tailor. Not nearly as much as some have indicated, but since I only have three choices of 'all the time', 'only when tired of looks' or 'not at all', #2 fit the best.
Now a LTS and loving it.

That's Ruavu, my Gray Alien. Justified in that his species is highly territorial when it comes to other males. Given that he cannot breed with other species (reproduction has been highly regulated and controlled since before humanity took to the stars and is done via genetic hybridization of two samples, therefore standard reproduction is impossible), he was given special dispensation to have an all female bridge crew.

For those not in the know, Space Barbies is really mucking around in the game to customize your character. It may or may not involve C-Store shopping.

???? Even with that explanation Im still at a lost for what you are asking? Is Ken and Barbie now on spaceships? :o

My crews (mostly female, by some strange coincidence) usually go with an across the board green uniform dress code, unless I'm going with some theme with one particular crew.

Space Barbies refers to customized characters, uniforms, and ships as opposed to "take it exactly how it comes."

In other words, do you fiddle around with ship and character customization or do you go with it as it is.

I don't spend hours in the tailor unless I'm making a brand new alt. However, excluding services from the C-Store and traits off of the exchange, whenever I get anything, it is 100% dependent on whether or not it looks aesthetically pleasing to me. I never buy anything that doesn't.
