yea, it is pretty lame, I would of loved to do the events, but PW is lazy and would rather TRIBBLE console users over, heck we dont even have access to everything anyway.
The least teh ycould do is give everyone one free epic token.

To a certain extent. Consoles seem to be getting the previous event's rewards. The Krenim Science Vessel was released on the PC in February 2016 while it was released on the consoles in February 2017. The Breen Dreadnought Cruiser was released on the PC in December 2015 while it was released on the consoles in December 2015. So it is likely that console users will get the Vorgon Heavy Escort in June since PC users obtained it in June 2016. Console users will likely lag behind the PC users by a year for the event ships. There is the possibility that future events will have more than one Event ship available at the same time, but not likely.

There is also a bunch of items that were available through other means like the Red Matter Capacitor, Automated Defense Turret, and a few combat pets that were available from the Ferengi Lockbox.

my biggest complaint is the T6 ships basically average Joe has no chance of getting a epic token. I'm sure most players have no chance of getting them.

but they where in event's where you could earn them. and it's unlikely we will ever get them events.

that's what bothers me the most.

and anyone who says the events where years ago. yea on PC console is new so why can't we earn them??

Because you're on console and not important enough for them to re-offer/re-code the past ship projects into the upcoming Winter or Summer events. Especially since they spent time coding this box for PC.
They probably feel its not worth the extra work of re coding multiple ships projects back into events.

They also probably don't want to confuse our console plebs with multiple ship projects being made available during 1 solitary event. Too many choices and you would get some console Kid slotting the T5 project (thinking its the new T6 event ship), filling said project, and then realizing after completion that he/she could've and should've slotted the newer T6 event ship.
    Then the crying would start.

My advice. Try a handful of boxes, set a budget of say 50% of your refined if you're that desperate for the missed ships. If you don't get a ship (you probably won't) just give up.

Only continue opening boxes if you want the tech upgrades.

Chasing a ship token with this offering (especially multiple ships) would be nothing short of insanity.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I opened 2.4 million worth of phoenix boxes; 0 Ultra tokens and 0 Epic tokens. Mind you, I was after the upgrades, not the ships as I have them all. So I'm very happy with my investment. Tech Upgrades for life.

That said, its all RNG. You could get a ship on the first try... Or bankrupt yourself trying to get even 1 of the ship tokens.
Truth is that box was created as a Dil sink for longtime PC players who had amassed vast fortunes of refined Dilithium.
Keep that in mind, as I don't think the odds will be any better for console players.

I know one guy on PC that spent 9mil refined Dil on boxes. No ship tokens.
This is a cautionary tale. Don't blow your wad, chasing old ships. Not worth it. Open them for Upgrades only. If you so happen to get lucky along the way and snag a ship token, great. If not, move on and forget this box.
As Ackbar would say: "It's a Trap !"

They can't put up multiple ships in the summer/winter/anniversary event projects at this time, because with the current token policy it's impossible to get enough tokens to earn multiple ships without using multiple toons or paying lobi.

And they can't really go back on their general "no old ship projects" -policy either, unless they were to do the same on PC. I think they should, but... :disappointed:

Incidentally, the missing ships in the T6 list reveals what ships the consoleers are going to get in the next 3 big events.

Unless consoles work differently than PC, you are discussing Phoenix PRIZE PACKS not lockboxes. You do not need master keys to use these, just cheap and easy dilithium.
Still a lottery system, but not a lockbox.

It would still give incoming players a choice of ship, in case the current event offering isn't to their taste. The drawback is on timed exclusivity. There's no rush to get a particular ship this year (which I think is the principle reason for the phoenix pack, it's not a reliable fallback when you don't complete an event. Cryptic still wants boots on the ground with every event.)

Yes, well, Cryptic made that problem all their own. When event ships were 1k tokens per ship no account-unlocks, there was never a question of boots on the ground. Even best case you could get about 1.5 ships a year, so any backlog on new toons etc you'd want to do your best to reduce. Everyone played, the event maps were always full. Only improvement it really needed was making the tokens and/or ship boxes tradeable so players/toons that only needed the latest ship could put their spares into something useful.

"Timed exclusivity" is about the dumbest way to go about the issue, because it means all the previous years' ships are completely wasted and don't contribute at all to future events. I mean, just look at the consoles. Released in 2016, players could've had 5 winter ships, 4 summer and anniversary ships to earn, with no extra work for Cryptic. Instead they had 1 each.

But I suppose the phoenix boxes are at least good for the dilithium economy.

STO has only been available for consoles for 7 months. With 6 lock boxes released so far, Cryptic has basically released a lock box every month after the 1st month since the game was launched.

Your complaint seems to be very petty. If you want access to all the lock boxes, then switch over to the PC version of the game. Otherwise, be patient and wait for Cryptic to release the other lock boxes which they seem to be doing every month.

They could've released all the lockboxes at once...and then people would be whining there's too many.

    People always complain.

Shadowwraith's list is slightly misleading as Dominion and cardassian already happened on consoles. (Unrelated to Phoenix packs).

Phoenix packs only cost Dil and are an extremely generous way to get a lot of stuff sans the ships, the upgrades alone are worth it.

No one is forcing you to do anything. Most of the items in the Phoenix Box are fluff. The tech upgrades are by far the most useful thing inside them. The fact that they are offering some of the older event ships is nice, but trust me, outside of collecting them, they lose their luster quickly. I blew 1.8 Mil on the boxes and came away with exactly what I wanted. I butt-ton of upgrades.

OK force was probably the wrong word.

BTW. seeing how I've never played StO Before. what would be the point on playing it on PC instead of console?

not misleading at all, the combined cardassian/dominion lockbox on console are different from the separate lockboxes on pc, especially the ships

[Special Requisition Pack - Cardassian Keldon Cruiser (T6)]
[Special Requisition Pack - Jem’Hadar Dreadnought Carrier (T6)]

    the separate lockboxes had

[Special Requisition Pack - Cardassian Galor Ship]

[Special Requisition Pack - Jem'Hadar Heavy Escort Carrier]

The Keldon is the T6 version of the Galor. It has the same stats and the option to use the same visuals.

The T6 jem'hadar ships were swapped from their T5 counterparts so that the escort carrier is now in the lobi store and the dreadnought in the box instead of the other way around. They are nonetheless the same ships.

except these items were FREE to PC, they are not free to console and console has to use the archaic RNG system they use to try their "luck" at getting ships that were FREE to PC, there are also missing pieces such as the dyson set items which we console users still can NEVER complete.
the entire phoenix boxes are a slap in the face and just lazy.

I agree, OK they where events from years ago but I would love the breen ships.

not only that I'm sure there stats are decent for admirty stuff. that alone would have been very helpful for KDF toons.

Actually they could run the event for different summer ships/winter/anniversary events on different characters, as long as they have multiple toons.

If I recall correctly didn't we all have to do that before back before those ships became an account unlock? Or was it something like other characters had to submit only 40 characters after the ship was unlocked on one character.

At any rate they could allow starting the projects for the t6 and t5 ships to console players are appropriate times of the year and just have players have to grind for different ships on each character.

As for Pheonix Boxes unless you get a t5 Bug Ship to unlock frigates for the Jem Hadar Dreadnought, just grab Shotguns, maybe RMC, the Doffs, the Admirality ships, and then stockpile upgrades for the next upgrade weekend.

The phoenix prize pack is the "one size fits all" solution to the players perceived problem of missing out old event ships. And it's a great solution as "one size fits all" solutions are usually terrible.

What I did the first year they became Account Unlocks, was to catch up. Have one Character slot the Plesh Brek, another the Chel Grett and each do the Fastest for it. Same for the Summer, one the Corvette, another the Cruiser.

nope I'm complaining about never getting a chance to earn to the ships. why is everyone struggling to understand this??

Well, if you're lucky they'll modify the "exclusivity" kick they'd been on and allow running old Event Rep projects again so everyone has a chance to earn whatever they like... if they're willing to put in the effort. Of course, that's if you're lucky. Hell, I'd like that too, but it probably won't happen unless participation metrics indicate that there's a need for additional motivators.

As it stands, the Phoenix Prize Pack should be considered an excellent source of Upgrades with a secondary chance to win an otherwise unavailable Starship. Taken as such, it's actually a nice gesture, and really you shouldn't miss out on the Upgrades just because you're put off by the Starship aspect's odds. Just check out Tribble or the Tribble section of the Forums before burning too many resources, since change (unrelated to the Events) is in the air.

I'm really glad they put the phoenix lockbox in, means we have a chance of those ships without having to go through loads of events catching up (and some, like the JHAS and Bulwark aren't event ships). I think normal lockboxes would be better if they had a similar token/shop reward system.
