    actually the exceedingly brief recovery it showed, like a coma patient opening their eyes for only a moment, lasted all of about three weeks in March of 2017 total before the rollbacks hit high gear. During that three weeks, a lot of people came back, and...they left as soon as the rolling back was accomplished and things rules-wise were returned to the borked state they were prior to the rebalancing effort. Most of t he newer players that entered in that period are like Where2r1, that is, they're wondering what happened all over again wrt PvP.

    They ALMOST made the mistake of restarting the dead thing's heart. Luckily, Borticus and Geko were there to drive the stake back in.



    I was always wondering why it seemed like the revival of PvP only seemed to last for a few weeks after Season 13. There were almost 60 people in the Arena Queue at one point days after the season launched. It didn't take long for things to go downhill, but I never knew why. Now I do.

    My opinion..

    IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE IT THEN,
    DISABLE ALL SPECIAL CONSOLES & SET BOUNS EQUIPMENRT AT ANY TIER, DEVICES & SPECIAL WEAPONS leaving only BoFF, DoFF abilities, spec trees and traits intact, only stuff available from fleet holdings and mission drops, that way you have only a base ship to see what players can do with only their base ships, raw skill, weapons and abilities...Just plain and simple base PvP..For this you wouldnt require to rewrite code completely just a small bit to disable the things mentioned above similar to how the secondary specialization tree is disabled from Tier 3 to the end of the tree..

    If this is done correctly power scaling wouldnt be really required and NPC's can be retuned to their former leathality where all your abilities consoles and skill will be a must to take them down thereby improving both the PvE in all three states (Normal/Advance/Elite) and PvP environments..Also it could push players to be in fleets more because of the equipment and make fleets alot more active..

    IF YOU DONT WANT TO IMPROVE IT THEN:
    JUST REMOVE IT AND SAVE GAME RESOURCES TO MAKE OTHER PARTS BETTER AND BUG FREE..

    So to sum up..
    To Improve PvP..
    -NO SPECIAL CONSOLES (Just Standard consoles from Fleet holdings & mission available to all, nothing from the C-store or lobi ships or any unique consoles)
    -NO SET BOUNS EQUIPMENT AT ANY TIER (2/3/4-pcs bonus and so on but players can use the equipment as standalone for PvP)
    -NO SPECIAL WESPONS (Just Standard weapons from Fleet holdings & mission available to all, nothing from the C-store or Lobi ships or any unique weapons)
    -NO DEVICES (Except consumable batteries).
    -Specialization Trees can be left active.
    -BoFF & DoFF abilities can remain active.
    -Traits can be left active.

    To NOT improve it:
    -REMOVE IT AND SAVE GAME RESOURCES!!

    Oh wow... someone recently brought this back up... I haven't really been to the STO forums in a while. in terms of PvP, I think it would still be nice to see development in any way on it, even if it forces everyone into miranda-class ships with mk 1 weapons... But I think to keep the saltiness from this discussion down it's best to make a post of your own...

    Remove PvP from PvE... bring up a Season 5 server for PvPers only. C'mon, you can do it! Make your April Fool's joke come to life!

    PvPers will go back to monthly subscriptions to pay for it because you won't be injecting your power creep into it. You will get many old PvPers coming back for that server to pay for it.

    Let PvE'ers rot in their grinding, spacebar hitting, mind-numbing NPC battles while we relish in a Season 5 server which had truly balanced PvP before the game became focused on balancing Cryptic's bank account.

    Improve it. There are plenty of nice people in the game. If there werent, many fleets would be bare of members. Many armadas would be bare of fleets. & i always get requests to do some pvp with someone, because i dont mind the random requests. Its a good way to meet other players in the game. To have it removed, would be a bad thing for sto. Kinda like removing the foundry. isnt that bad enough? The foundry will be missed.
    But back to the point, If pvp gets removed, that will be missed too.
    Its not just about the space battles, its the ground ones too & meeting new players, making new friends. You would be taking that social aspect away from the game that brings other like minded players to that sort of gameplay.
    This shouldnt even be a topic. It would just be wrong to remove it. Period!

    PvP should die. It doesn't belong in Star Trek, which is about co-operation in the shows. The antagonists (NPCs) are the threats. This need not be like EVE, where the game is solely to satisfy psychopathic tendencies in online behaviour, that you can't get away with in real life, for laughs.

    And PvP in this game does nothing to improve any casual gamers experience. EVER. It brings grief, cheats, and general selfishness. Since they're closing the Foundry, it's obvious they can't do much for PvE content, so PvP should really go away, so that they can re-focus their efforts to what matters: Content that the players and devs can make and share together. Again Co-op, not adversarial.
