Blog War (and other Blog Posts) - How to Get Them in Game

The blog posts are great, well written snippits into the life of various characters and during the Iconian War they were infamous for seeming like the majority of the war's scope. By not being in the game itself, all this content would be lost to someone playing through the game in just a few months time. This is one way to integrate them into the game proper without turning them into missions in themselves;

A lot of games have various Lore objects dotted around. Sometimes text (e.g. The Secret World's lore objects) and sometimes VO (e.g. DC Online's investigations/briefings). A similar thing can be executed throughout STO. Interact with hidden objects (like we do for R&D nodes) in missions, social zones and sector space that unlock a bit of lore. This can be inclusive of Spock's sector space VO and the Academy lore quiz info - now interactable objects in social zones.

New Lore nodes could unlock as you progress so a) you have lots of new additions as you level up, always something new to find and b) story arc-specific content will appear at the right time. So once the Iconian War starts then suddenly lots of new Iconian war lore objects appear: On Qo'noS Bekk Jornth's log entry appears somewhere in the Great Hall while A'dranna's appears in New Romulus near to where she is stationed. And so on. Ideally, these would eventually get a VO but it's not needed to get the system in place. Some could be broken down into several small entries.

Point is there is great written content that is now going to be forgotten as it vanishes down the list of blog entries. Including it in the game in such a manner means the content is used again. It is fairly simple, easy to execute (relative to other options) and it fleshes out arcs in a way that can counter criticism of the Iconian War for not seeming deep enough. Imagine more small entries being added - picked up in sector space around many planets detailing some personals struggle against the Iconian onslaught: the sudden appearence of these early in the war would add some sense of scale.
