in Star Trek Online General Discussion
I am wondering if there is any news on what is possibly going to happen in 2016?

Will the skill revamp come, will we get a better still version of crafting ? New specializations ?

What new features and game play will be introduced? I assume things like new episodes etc will. But I hope in the next few weeks we will get more info on what is to come. I just feel like, they have been becoming quite tight lipped. Not very many interviews or future info...

I like surprises but I like being excited more, and right now there is nothing as far as the future to be excited for besides one episode, and possibility of old possible features seeing the light of day. + new ships but that's a given.

    The only thing we know of is it will be the 50th Anniversary of the Star Trek franchise. What that means for STO is still uncertain AFAIK. I'd expect our STO Anniversary in February to be pretty big as opposed to previous years. With so many eyes on Star Trek and quite possibly STO as well, it would not be a stretch to see Cryptic do more than usual to keep spirits high and keep the player base happy and playing... at least until later in the year.

    What @ixionveridian said. Nothing is certain.

    What you can expect for sure though:
    - More reputations and content to accompany said reputation
    - More episodes
    - More Lock Boxess

    And a personal guess is that we see a revamped Fek'Ihri story arc appearing along the way, tying in somehow to either the Iconians or the Temporal Cold War, if not a possible future Gamma Quadrant expansion. I'm guessing there is also a pretty good chance that next year we'll see a new Expansion. Between LoR and DR there was less than 1,5 year, in April/May (probable new huge content update time) it'll have been 1,5 year since DR. And otherwise October is also very possible.

    let me look into my crystal ball........ the mists of time are starting to clear...... I am starting to see a picture.... its coming into focus....
    I see the sto anniversary event starting shortly around the end of January and going on into the beginning of February....
    I see the summer event around early June and also another crystalline event and mirror event showing up at various times...
    and I also see a big celebration of the 50th anniversary of star trek with lots of stuff to do with some great rewards and c-store item giveaways to get probably around July or August time.

    its certainly going to be a bumper year.

    When I think about everything we've been through together,

    maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

     and if that journey takes a little longer,

    so we can do something we all believe in,

     I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

    I'm expecting Expansion 3 and i hope it will bring along something like a new scientific oriented specialization and connected sci-ships. Yes, i'm a dreamer for this part.

    I hope noone is saving up the Qmendations for the anniversary ship. If the Lohlunats and the Q-pics are any indication, they'll be removed as well.

    Well, next year is the 6 year STO Anniversary and the 50 year Star Trek anniversary, so I expect stuff to happen. One guess would be a Tier 6 flagship, possibly as part of an event reward. Other than that, I just hope this year is a good indication of what's to come next year, which would mean monthly new episodes and a few nice season updates.

    A new specialization is basically guaranteed. New specializations come with new ships for those specs. Ships are Cryptic's primary source of $$$. My best guess is that it'll be a temporal spec.

    Unless they change the pattern:
    1) Anniversary event - maybe something special.
    2) Season 11.5 in the spring, with xp/r&d/dil bonus events based on doff missions/episode replays/ etc.
    3) Summer Risa event.
    4) yadda yadda
    5) October/November, lockbox event before season 12, then season 12

    A few feature episodes peppered through this.

    More useless content that people haven't been asking for instead of content that people have been asking for. That's usually how it works. More imbalance, more breaks (I notice that the 'delete mail' function doesn't work because they added something that... wasn't really needed). More rep systems, more lock boxes, more space and ground sets, maybe a few new missions and ships along the way?

    Nothing I plan on spending my money on, that's for sure. They can't even give us the option to customize a Breen during a Winter Event. I've lost faith.

    I don't think that is a high priority since it seems we wont be obtaining them anymore...

    Most likely, but the 400 easy Qmendations on one FE could still be worth quite a bit of swag if they do another retirement deal. :P

    This is very true. Like I always say about aging, 'better than the alternative'.

    The format in which STO releases stuff is pretty straight forward now. There might be an element or two added that we never seen before, but besides that, I would expect the same ol same ol(not that there is anything wrong with that).

    It's 2 season per year. So 11.5 will be jan/feb, 12 in April, 12.5 in July, 13 in October.

    Well that is up to Cryptic...just saying it has been a long time since they did the reruns where we could obtain things like the Breen and Reman boffs. In fact I think the last rerun was what...2 years ago?
