@Odenknight | U.S.S. Challenger | "Remember The Seven"
Fleet Defiant Kinetic Heavy Fire Support | Fleet Manticore Kinetic Strike Ship | Tactical Command Kinetic Siege Refit | Fleet Defiant Quantum Phase Escort | Fleet Valiant Kinetic Heavy Fire Support
Turning the Galaxy-X into a Torpedo Dreadnought & torpedo tutorial, with written torpedo guide.
"A good weapon and a great strategy will win you many battles." - Marshall
I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

    I'm still wondering about different scenarios concerning universals in tac slots. Obviously, if you're all weapons (energy OR kinetic), and, especially a Tactical officer, it makes no sense, at least to me.

    What about, say, A Science officer in a science pilot ship? With 5 tac consoles, you're only boosting whatever weapons you're using, but likely you're using a fair amount of science abilities. A Tachyokinetic Converter in the 5th tac slot, adding critD and Gravgens (while losing .5% [or so] critH and weapon specific damage) doesnt seem like a horrible idea.

    Or does it?

    I'm curious to see if @sarcasmdetector indeed does any testing with this.

    Part of what makes the game fun for me is improving my build. I would like to improve my build but my less than social tendencies are now making a resurging comeback with the increase in vile conduct not only on the forums, but in the game too. Where I might have looked on the chat box for any helpful advice after a failed queue, instead I have been shamed and flamed and slammed and damned. Now, I don't play elite, very seldom play advanced, hardly even normal. I hunt in story missions and battlezones. I am now running out of fun. Where I previously questioned my sanity in spending so much time, I now question it in spending any at all. That goes double for the forums. This so called "community" is ripping itself apart and scorching the rags. My compliments to you for calling for a cease-fire BTW. Concerning the questions as to whether there were threads from elitists (I too know to note the difference from the elites) getting all extra nasty against most everyone else, I remember there were at least 3 in the first page. I was not fond of any of them. I like to embrace challenge, finding ways to improve, and using good strategy. I just don't like where this game is at right now. With so much malice and hate being spewed by the gallon on "failed" runs I don't even try going that next step into advanced. It's that bad. :(

    Failed runs happen - even in the high-dps groups! How the group handles it is what matters. Sometimes it's an idiot venting. Other times it's players stubbornly refusing or being unaware that they need to work as a team.

    Unfortunately most people fail to grasp that a failed mission is about learning why. Post-mortems are more valubale to everyone, than the screaming matches by a few.

    Kyrrok - If you want I am willing to give you a hand. My fleet used to do training support for the STF's, mostly because we too were tired of the vitriol, and we like to win more than fail. I'd be happy to help you through the basics on all manner of STF's; give you hints on how to be more effective, and certainly help you in finding the right places to get into better groups.

    I'm not a DPS player, but I am in the DPS groups. Any build will do! For things like STF's it's more important to know what to do and where to be in position than whether or not you're running the latest ad greatest 1% gear or ships.

    My handle ingame is @ddesjardins. I'm on most evenings and weekends. That offer is open to anyone who is willing to learn ;)

    Kyrrok, I've played around in normal and advanced queues and so far I've been lucky I've ended up with a decent bunch just about every time.
