I knew using Kinetics would be playing the game on hard mode, but what I didn't realize was how bad the deck is stacked against Kinetics.

In addition to the reduction to THY crits,I also found base stats are reduced by greater amounts with higher levels of THYx. There is no doubt in my mind that all this torp reduction business is working as intended, but imho, whatever intention there was behind it is outdated at best and assuming quite a bit, if not just a pile of bak'tag. As for ACC overflow, I have seen no benefit at all in it. I used to like ACC under the assumption that the overflow goes to crits. But I have seen nothing in actual gameplay to support this. I plan to upgrade some CrtDx3 torps and when they're done, junking the Accx3 versions.

I can agree with you that the numbers used to calculate the values for each rank is outdated. I think @jarvisandalfred had a solution that he drafted on the reddit /r/sto forum. I'll have to see if he's dedicated another brain cell to the cause.

    Thanks for your feedback!

@darkknightucf , Numbers to calculate values/rank should be really easy, at least for photon-based variants. Make a new feddie, skip the tutorial, beam up, hit p, and look at the values listed for the different abilities. Honestly, it shouldn't matter what character you do this on, but checking on a blank character is always nice.

    SCM - Crystal C. (S) - [00:12] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 8.63M(713.16K) - Fed Sci

    SCM - Hive (S) - [02:31] DMG(DPS) - @jarvisandalfred: 30.62M(204.66K) - Fed Sci

    Tacs are overrated.

It all works by the same formula since forever but it's plain to see for anyone since DR:
Release extremely OP/broken Zen/Lobi or Lockbox then "fix" it/nerf it just before you release new broken stuff.

This is the order of things in STO. Elachi DHCs stacking pen+DMG proc, Partigen madness, neutronic, bounty hunter, this, etc.

It was always like that. Only thing that changed is that HP numbers for PvE enemies and DMG numbers for player weapons got so ridiculous that even PvE only people started noticing.

before R&D revamp, DR, even LoR, there were ALWAYS ways to kill a player with one attack, be it BO, CRF, Mines or torps.
Only thing that changed is that HY, BO or CRF that did 100k max got to do, let's say, 500k DMG per attack + some broken immune and disable/stun stuff.

About your PvP part. Incredibly funny hearing that NOW. Right before I left the game PvE people were incredibly against ANY and ALL fixes PvPers proposed, here or in DPS channels.
    Sadly, now people get it.

But that's life. And STO is FUBAR now just because people always bite into bigger NUMBERS.

What happened to the plasma consoles? Are they still a good investment? I see them all over sci console slots on all kinds of builds.

It really all depends on what powers you use. For FAW, it's still very good and if you need space for a universal console, drop tac consoles and keep plasma.

The dropping a Tac console rumor (wherever it came from) needs to be addressed. Typically, you do NOT want to drop a Tac console boosting your main damage type if it is a significant source of your damage. The conditions are so rare and highly circumstantial for one to drop a Tac console that it shouldn't be treated like it's the new meta.

Kemo-cheesing aside, one does not wantonly remove Tac consoles for a Universal.

I should have been more clear, I didn't mean drop tac consoles for Unis. You better have a good reason to use the Uni to drop the Tac console. Was just wanting to get it out there that even though plasma consoles were nerfed, they are still one of the best choices for faw beamboats.
