It would be amazing if we could actually remove the cannons on the Dyson Science Destroyer... Make them like the aux cannons on the Vesta! Keep everything else about it, but let us slot what we want in that fourth forward weapon slot!

Actually, thinking of it they could make so they are 'Adaptive Energy Cannons: These cannons take on the prevalent energy weapon type equipped including the prevalent specialized proc associated with the energy weapon'. That way you don't have to fiddle about with swapping out cannons or fiddling with drop-downs.
That or they could simply have proton weapons enhanced by all weapon type consoles.
Proton weapons are still rare enough that this wouldn't be overpowered.
That'd be nice. You've got the welded on DSD cannon, the experimental protonic weapon, and protonic polaron procs. The half/half dyson consoles boost 1-2 weapons and possible procs at half the effectiveness of a normal console at the cost of all the rest of the weapons being stuck at half console values. Changing the dyson consoles to be better for the non-proton portion would help out a lot as well.
The minute cooldown on tactical mode on top of it not being a mode that persists between maps and respawns makes the uptime of the built in proton weapon less than what it should be if you want to fly a DSD as a tac ship.
You know what would be nice? If proton damage wasn't blocked by any type of armor. Like on neutroniums when is says +X all energy damage resistance, that proton isn't a factor in that. Then use prefire chambers to buff the proton damage and your other cannons, and let it skip past everyone's resistances. Protonic polaron weapons would be in higher demand too.
That's about the only way I would ever use this ship.
Yeah...that is my biggest complaint...they're infinity...which is only what...equivalent to Mk X at max level I believe?

Problem with your request OP, it would take some development resources to accomplish this feat.
There's far better things they could be working on atm, like things that will make them money.
I really don't know how many man hours it would take to accomplish your request, but just thinking about it gives me a headache.
The cannons are locked to that Tactical/Defensive mode switch...so might be complicated to separate that.
