Issues with the Doomsday machine mission

I've played this mission twice in the last month and all was OK. I completed with no isses. This week I played on another character, and the mission is bugged -
1) I keep blowing up because the Klingon ships all target me and destroy me (the Feds are supposed to 'keep them busy for a while')
2) when I re spawn, the Doomsday machine has completely regenerated back to 100%.
This gives me no chance to complete the mission. The other two times this month that I played it I didn't have these problems.
