Game crashing on startup post 03/26 patch

The game crashes the instant I hit Launch since the patch yesterday. I have no idea what to even tell you is happening as all I get is a white box that sends a report.
Wow. There is a new KDF Science ship. I'll be!

    It launched the 4th force verify but all of my settings seem to have changed and it's running very choppy. There have been no hardware changes to the system. There were apparently no updates from Microsoft for Windows 7 this week and no new Catalyst Control Center from AMD.

    I still have no idea what to tell you was causing the crashes but a day later, I am in the game finally. Standby in case it tanks once I enter play.

    Having exactly the same issue today (Sat. 28th March). Haven't played since this week's patch.

    Like the OP, all I'm getting is the "Report a Bug" pop up box. No errors, no nothing else. Am now verifying game files for I think the 5th time today.
