    why does it even HAVE a warp core? I thought it was some crystallifeform

    I had already theorized that the Crystalline Entity is in fact Iconian in origin, and a possible battle ship

    Maybe it swallowed a warp core which didn't agree with it. :eek:

    I'm just going with the idea that the thing has so much energy stored that when it's destroyed it really goes out with a bang. Or perhaps with enough damage it can no longer contain said energy and that's what really destroys it.

    The starship computer, not knowing how else to describe the event, refers to it as a warp core breach.

    Maybe the Warp Core is the Federation/Klingon/Romulan designation for a Crystalline Heart?
