CNN article proclaiming the first real medical tricorder, the Scanadu Scout has arrived, and is in the hands of crowdfunding backers first.

    Mmhmm, any particular reason it's shaped like a smoke alarm and not a 2000's flip phone?

    My point is, how do you do somthing trek inspired and make it where it looks totally not trek inspired :D

    I kinda want one of these that doesn't require a smartphone... Basically a true medical tricorder minus all the silly pre-touchscreen buttons and flip-phone casing. Just a scanner unit and a linked handheld display screen.

    This isn't the first time a medical company has built something 'like' a medical tricorder. They're mainly just personal health monitors, not medical scanners.
