Bloated Numbers Question...

Just curious to know if there's an alternative reason for the bloated numbers. For instance, the coming Winter grind for the supposed T6 ship will offer 40 Q-pics per day for a required 1000 Q-pics, making it a 25-day grind. In another thread, someone calls it "simple math", and it is, but why isn't the math just simplified and reduced to begin with? Why not offer 1 Q-pic per day and require 25 Q-pics total... The grind is the same, and the added multiple of 40 is unnecessary... It's like simplifying the fraction (unless Cryptic never learned to do that...)

1000/40 = 25/1 = 25

... ?

Another example would be the new crafting system. One can earn 6,000 crafting points per day, and needs to grind out a whopping 630,000 points to reach level 15 in any school... Why the added multiple of 3000? If you simplified the 630,000/6,000, STO could offer a simple 2 crafting points per day and make the grind to 210... Would require the same amount of points and the same time to grind. Now, if you're gonna argue the extra 1,000 points on crit, then make it 6 points per day, 7 on crit, and grind to 630 and drop the unnecessary multiple of 1000...

Anyway, just wondering if there was a reason behind the bloating of numbers... Seems like a simplification of the math might be in order here...

p.s. Sorry if this has been covered before, but couldn't find any comments anywhere else that wouldn't have required a necroing of a thread...

    event tokens, you are correct.

crafting, there are reasons. 6k/ day is just the special project. You also get xp from building components and items. Far less than 6k each, but in less time per go too. If they divided by 6000 so that 1 20 hour project gave 1 xp toward the goal, then building a component would give say 0.00005 xp points? That is messy -- most humans can't handle this even if numerically they are the same as before, it would "bother' people to see fractions of a point of progress.

Regarding the Q-pics: With lobi you can buy packages that contain 6-10 Q-pics (or so). There you have it. It is a way to get some money out of players who do not want to do the ice race. If it was 1 pic each for certain, then there would be no gamble with the boxes. No gamble = less money.

This is for those who are willing to Pay 2B Impatient, and want the Shiny New Toy NOW!!!...

It also enables people who skip a few days (have to visit those relatives on Christmas & New Years, Ski Trips, etc...) to have a second chance to finish the grind for the New Toy...
