Got a bit bored earlier, decided to try CSA solo, went quite well.

Anyone heard any updates as to when the rest of the Elite queues will be out?

Before I watched the video I was guessing you would be using the Scimitar. Well, the devs should pay attention to such previews and consider future nerfs for this overpowered ship. There was one video of scimitar doing 100k dps, of course with few recluses behind him for APB stack spam. Still it was an example of that some ships have abusive power.

Your video is making all ships in game to look obsolete. I doubt you can do this solo with any other ship than scimi, not that you "must" be able to, but just a test.

STO is turning in to Scimitar Simulator Online. Something must be done about this ship so the other tacticals may also look impressive in comparison with it.

(No offense towards you, spencerb96, perhaps the devs are those that need to be scolded)

My advice is learn the game mechanics and the many and varied synergies between different set bonuses, before crying nerf this nerf that because the average dude can't do the same!

Good comment. I apologize for possibly being rude. My point was not to accuse the player but directly pointing on the platform - the ship, which is maybe one of the most "improved" tactical ships. It have access to 5 tac consoles, 5 forward guns, hangar with frigates instead of fighters. All that is the "platform", from then on you build the ship. The main problem I stated was that the scimitar contains far more bonuses than any other ship for tactical.
That doesn't mean others are totally obsolete but in comparison with scimi...well, I haven't heard of "defiant" doing solo CSA so far or something like that.

Two ships with two exactly the same builds - scimi and jhdc/narcine - the scimi would perform better due to romulan special powers.

I may not be super pro like most people here but I am aware of synergies between set bonuses and game mechanics. I fly primary science ships, so you see I cant compare or expect to do that sort of thing like solo advanced stf...but the possibility for someone to do it solo means something is odd in the game.

Here is my sci ship build and some data from ISA runs i tested yearly after completing my set. Feel free to comment, would appreciate: USS.Tranquility.

    - Leech Console
    - Operative & Infiltrator Traits
    - Negative Resistance Formula

Those need tweaked way before anything else does. Leech console is what allows romulans to ignore -40 subsystem power and still get 4x AMP, not to mention what it does for beam weapon power overcapping with the power from leech being re-added after every shot. Honestly it should be considered a bug but oh well.

Romulan boff space traits. Nuff said.

Positive resistance math never lets you reach 75% resists. Negative math allows you to exceed -75% resist very quickly and easily. Does that not seem a bit off to anyone other than me?

Scimmy's 5 tactical consoles, weapon layout, and hanger are small potatoes compared to those three.

I used the Scimitar being it's what I've been focused on since DR came out. The requirements to solo this STF are not that hard. Honestly, I imagine quite a few ships from each faction could do this. I'd do it with my Fed Tac if he were leveled, but I only got him to 57 before they slowed the rate of progression.

    no wonder...
even if CSA need some tuning, FAW build are totally out of control: too much dps (up to 100k and more), no need to accurate piloting (nothing compared to manouvering an escort with solo cannons), no need to target anything (just have as much targettable object as possible in a 10km sphere) and moreover the shield absorptive frequency generator (for romulan ships)...
    [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Playing STO spamming FAW is like playing chess using always the computer's suggested moves

    Solocannons, really?

But dont worry, DHC-CSV-Builds are just as deadly. You need just 30% more piloting skill.

Sorry, but I really don't think that this is a good thing.

I mean, well done and all that - but part of the reason the queues (and arguably the game) are in the state that they're in was the changes that were made as a result of too many players being able to take a solo Scimitard in to the OLD Elite STF's and finish them in ridiculously short spaces of time.

Though I won't play it, I'm hoping that Elite STF's wipe the floor with these OP Scimitards.

I don't agree. That's not the reason the queues are empty, the reason the queues are empty are many and varied but centre around the fact that instead of increasing the difficulty of elites and making the new advanced the old elites, they also increased the difficulty of advanced, and at the same time nerfed the rewards. In addition many people are busy trying to level their toons and the most effective way to do that is by running Argala again and again and again ad infinitum.

Secondly, if the new Elite STFs wipe the floor with the Scim builds then what do you think it will be like for the rest of us in other ships? In any sport, profession, walk of life, you will always find those small percentage of people that push their skills to the limit and make the rest of us look like bumbling amateurs, you don't nerf the experts because the rest of us can't keep up.

But surely the 'experts' are the minority in this case, which means the the majority suffer to keep the 'experts' happy?

Honesty, Good on you guys for soling CSA with the time you had, I am sure that took you some runs to get perfected :)

Anyway, in the B plot of this thread :) I am sure there are many reasons why the queues are alot more empty than usual or before DR, and many have been touched on already.

As to the whole thing of "keeping the experts" happy, i sort of dont buy into that. As someone already said, alot of the "experts" (I sort of consider myself one, but on the lower end of the spectrum, not towards these guys levels no :) ) it wouldnt matter what you did, they would find a way to overcome any difficulty curve change, thats what they do.

Also, I think the powercreep spoiled alot of players, thinking they could complete a ISA like they have before DR in 3 minutes, DR comes, and even after several tweaks for alot of players it takes them longer to complete the mission (if they do).

I believe to some extend, we got spoiled by power creep, and the fact NPCs or missions weren't usually scaled as frequently to the level we had obtained.

Delta Rising was a real shock, it brought alot of players back into reality, or shook them from their slumber. You know what happens to some people when they are woken from a deep and restiful sleep, it aint pretty.

My personal thoughts of course :)

The CRF is to trigger Inspirational Leader and Improved Predictive Algorithms. Using 1 Zemok Doff (15% Attack Pattern CD Reduction), I only need the 1 beta and omega.

Thank you :) This was my first attempt at it, haven't tried another solo on that toon since, will when I'm back at my computer in a few days.

The queues are not quiet because of difficulty, after all of the nerfs, normal and advanced are quite easy. The queues are quiet because everyone and their brother is sitting in the Delta Quadrant farming Argala. The other day there was less than 20 total PvE Queues instances up, public and private combined. At that same time, there was 40+ Argala instances up. Factor in all other patrols and the ratio for Queues t Patrols gets quite large.

As good as that sounds, I would think the constant use of BFAW would be enough, while tossing in an APD would offer up, a tad bit of DR + the de-buff to enemies similar to APB at the same time but, if it work for you than so be it.

Just had to ask is all.

APB/O and FAW should be comined at all times for max dps. Since FAWs cooldown is out of line (20sec instead of 15sec), you will get the max out by manuelly using both together (or writing a keybind for it). Though I only use this on my dps-char, all others have it in a universal bind (as a few more percent more dps aint worth the concentrating on every char, and if you forget to trigger it, you instantly loose dps).
