That's nice Mr. Spiner. I notice you completely fail to specify when.

But he doesn't have control over that, unless he exec produces it of course
My point exactly. Until I start seeing advertising for a TV pilot it's all theoretical.

He did say he's sure it's going to happen, but nobody really can say when. It took 16 years for Doctor Who to return to TV screens, hoping it won't be that long for Star Trek to make it's comeback
The Star Trek Titan project looks promising. In about 4 years they collected 4000 USD and need only 2000 more to actually do something. they don't spend their own money or use a credit, but rely only on donations from the fans.
You can imagine how well this tactic works. I don't think this is described in any "how to start your own business" handbook
It took 18 years and four movies for Star Trek to return to TV the first time. Well, we've got 9 years and two movies under the belt so far this time with the ball rolling on a third.
Everywhere I look, people are screaming about how bad Cryptic is.
What's my position?
That people should know what they're screaming about!

Considering Enterprise ended in 2005, and they'll likely not step on the toes of the 2016 movie release, it is entirely possible that it will be 16 years. Even worse if they shoot for a 4th movie.
Would you rather have no Star Trek or a Star Trek series set in the JJ universe? Since it is far more likely to get a series in the JJ Universe than one from the universe we know and love.

I'd actually like to see a series set in the alternate 23rd Century. Maybe all the scripts wouldn't have to be rehashes of what has already been done.
