Giving crafting some more certianty.

One of the issues with crafting in this system. Is the pure randomness, while experimentation and research can have random results. I have a idea to keep the random discovery, as well as a more guided research approach.


The normal attributes; Damage,accuracy,Crit hit, Crit damage. Should all have their own R&D projects. But these projects would not give any of the new attributes like ARC. You would have to go with the experimental project, which would give random attributes with a higher then average chance for at least 1 new attribute.

The normal attribute R&D projects, would give you a Guaranteed attribute starting at level 1, and at level 11 you would get 2 of the same attribute. I you critical your Guaranteed a very rare with all 3 attribute being the same.

Example: You select a accurate dual heavy cannon project. At level 1 crafting if you craft a blue you get one mod Guaranteed a accuracy mod. But the other mod will be random, and not a new or special mod like arc.

This would also be time that the damage mod could be made into something at least situational a little more useful. Perhaps make damage mod give a extra percentage of the base damage. That adds to the base damage but is not effected by power settings and always gives 100% damage. Making them slightly better on low weapon power support ships ?
