Alright, so, with the reveal of the Hirogen Lock Boxes, we've being given three brand new ships - Heavy Cruiser, which has no Tier V counterpart outside of its Retrofit and Fleet Retrofit variant (which you can only get with Fleets); the Negh'Var Heavy Battler Cruiser, which DOES have one; and the Dhelan Warbird, whose Tier V counterpart is a Z-Store ship.
I'm curious about how this is gonna work, especially with the Mirror Heavy and Mirror Dhelan.
I'd like to see a Mirror Kamarag, maybe. It has ENS+LT tac, CMDR+LT ENG, and LtCDR SCI. In keeping with the mirror pattern you trade a low-level boff for another class. So maybe make it LT TAC, CMDR+LT ENG, LtCDR+ENS SCI?
Honestly this has me severely tempted to blow my amassed lobi on the Apex and roll an aliengen Hirogen if at all possible in the RR. Side KDF, use IRW prefixes until I can get the Apex, Pick up the Hirogen armor for extra effect, hardcore roleplay this shizz.
The mirror ships are neat but imma hold out a few boxes and see if we get a Mirror Escort Carrier so I can give my fed sci an ISS mu ship like my fed Tac's ISS ship.
Yes I have a gag mirror version of my main's ship. 'cause why not?
But sersiouly though I'll probably roll with the Mirror Heavy Cruiser once I start leveling my upcoming Fed Eng alt until I decide on which fleet cruiser to go with.
The Mirror Heavy Cruiser, probably the same stats as the 200k FC T5 version, only with ensign eng (because they don't have one of those right now). Negh'var, probably ensign tac since the Mirror Vor'cha is ensign sci. No clue about the Dhelan.
A Mirror Defiant could be interesting. Cryptic could really tinker with it's seating to make an interesting alternative to the standard retrofit.
Seems like they're only touching ships that has no cstore counterparts, except for Romulan, where they have no choice. And for that, I wouldn't be surprised if they axed the all important 5th tac console for a eng console or something.
You know, the mirror Dhelan thing has me wondering and a bit worried as well. It's a C-Store ship with a price tag of 2000 Zen. Are they going to start releasing C-Store ships that people payed good money for as consolation prices in lockboxes, especially given the average prices on those mirror ships?

This just shows how badly Romulans need non cstore ships.
I'm not sure how it's weird. It makes perfect sense to me. Hell, I seemed like the only one that thought it was plausible for them to make more mirror tier 5 ships from any of the lower tiers/c-store ships.
Lockbox mirror vessels:
-Can be any ship that is plausible to exist in the mirror universe
-Have to be at least slightly worthwhile to maxed-level characters
-Have 'swapped' BOFF/console setups as their basic tier 5 versions
Makes perfect sense to me.
As for which one I'm gonna fly... now that's a toughie. My Andorian already flies a Fleet Heavy Cruiser, so I'm a big fan of that. However, my maxed-level KDF Romulan has the Dhelan retro, and it's growing on me too. Though I've always wanted a Negh'Var...
Eh, I have 32 characters. I'll try to get 'em all. =D

It's weird and perhaps stepping a fine line because untill now the mirror ships that were put as consolation prizes in the lockboxes were ships that are obtainable for free via leveling. So in a way, it made sense for a character who picked the free Negh'var to have the chance at the mirror Vor'cha for those low prices on mirror ships, since the Vor'cha is also obtainable via leveling.
But here we have the Dhelan Retro, it is a C-Store ship that people need to pay Zen to obtain. It is a precedent and I can't shake this feeling that something wrong is going on.
Wish they put in some cool stuff into the Zen store or dilithium store, never open lockboxes.
But you can bet to see Hirogen in the story arc they are making, I finally hope this time they will inspire us and not with the TRIBBLE of season 8. Sorry im harsh but lately the game is turning into a gambling Paradise instead of a game with goals.

Sorry, I didn't see them as that. I tend to look at things from an in-universe perspective, and I like to see game elements treated fairly. If that makes any sense. :<

Yeah its kind of odd. However it is Cryptic, and the rest of the free Rom shipline sucks, which is part and parcel of their money-making strategy for the faction, so there's no way they are giving away a really good T5.5 ship.

Gonna be in high demand on the exchange so probably in the millions, we have nothing to worry about.

Sorry, I just don't understand what your point was here. *shrugs*

I guess we'll see in the following few weeks. You may be right and it even could be better if you're right and they reach high prices, but I just can't see them reaching the prices of an lockbox ship. And if current mirror ship prices are any indicator, those will be silly cheap to obtain via the exchange. Still, it's basically C-Store ship so I guess there could be increase in the price of the sellers. We shall wait and see, I guess.
What has me worried is that this may be a pointer to the future and I'm afraid that people that play may feel deceived when they see ships they payed a lot of cash for being availible on the excnage for as low as 500k to 1 mil EC and become disenchanted with the game.
The whole Dehlan Retro issue smacks of some seriously bad decision making on Cryptic's part - not that that's particularly surprising given what i've seen over the last few days. If they weren't worried about C-Store sales before, they should be now. Why blow 2000 Zen when you can just get it's equivalent from the exchange for 50k EC?
Don't get me wrong - it's about time we were able to get the Mirror Skins for the ships below T5. But i'm not sure this is going to end well.

well, considering the RR currently has no non-cstore available ships (I.e. ships that dont have a C-store equivilant) what are they going to do? besides, these are MU Ships, and they dont give the discount for fleet versions, they wont have the same stats as their C-store counterpart, so its not like they cant give it undesirable stats so people will only get it for the costume.

Or people who had previously been considering spending money on Zen to buy the Dhelan Retro will instead save their RL money, not buy any Zen and get the Mirror Retrofit from the exchange.

of course, thats assuming it gets sold for 50k EC, for all we know, since its a C-store equivilant, it will become as pricy as the JHAS or Bulwark despite it being more common than them.
if its all about saving zen, then the Demand of such savings will likely jack the price up as opposed to "this ones just Exchange vendor trash"
I will bet that Cryptic will be giving away the Dhelan retrofit. That, or this will be a nerfed RA version of the Dhelan retrofit without the special console.
But here we have the Dhelan Retro, it is a C-Store ship that people need to pay Zen to obtain. It is a precedent and I can't shake this feeling that something wrong is going on.
Wrong such as...?
I'm interested in what you're thinking along these lines.

Think of it this way: We know in advance what ships will be given away during the next few days.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
The thing about a Store ship is that it has a special console. With the mirror ship you just get a hull without a console so definitely a second class option. When the prices drop though it will be nice to stock a few of these ships though.
That, or this will be a nerfed RA version of the Dhelan retrofit without the special console.
MU ships never come with the special weapons/consoles of the C-store versions, the mu Prometheus (the patrol escort i believe) didnt come with the MV console.

Well don't take this as DOOOOOM!!! :P, but
DStahl leaving again, the EP that has been less than popular last time he was at the helm is back, the hourly events going away, reduce cooldown tokens which is a first sign of P2W in many games being implemented, anniversary turned into grindathlon and now a C-Store ship released as a mirror variant. All in one week.
I'm not saying I know anything or that something bad is going on, but I just can't shake this gut feeling that something in not right.

Just a thought.
I myself would probably actually purchase a lockbox ship if they made a Kazon ship. But alas, they went Hirogen.
So I'm back to ignoring lockboxes.

I'm glad there is finally a Mirror Negh'var.. even if I don't know whether it is tactical or science oriented yet.
I'm also curious if the Fed and Rom mirror ships will have level 40 stats.. or if they're just mirrors of the lower level ships they're based on.
kazon ships are junk though. It'd be a ship the size of a battleship with the stats of a miranda

Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
