F2P- Rolling a PvP toon

As I'm just getting setup to roll a PvP only toon, it occurs to me I can't bring my FC's with me. The rest of my gear I might be able to get to my new toon but I was planning on a fleet ship ASAP, and my main toon (KDF) has all I need to get the ship I want.

So, I figured I'd transfer my unused fed toon to tribble (instead of killing him outright) and roll a TAC KDF toon in the vacated space- so that my main KDF toon and PVP toon would be on the same account and I wouldn't have to go thru the entire crafting tree again.

...would a RESPEC token allow me to change my toon from ENG to TAC ? Is there ANY way to do this without replaying months to get those FC's ?

    Well THAT sure puts a knife into the back of my plans.

    I'd assume that transferring a toon to tribble doesn't free up a slot in my account either, right ?

    As per request:
    The thing is, Engis are literally incapable of dealing DPS in an escort. They don't have the tac buffs, nor the sub nuc.

    Engies are meant to heal, and provide pressure. But as a KDF all is not lost for the want to be murderous engineer!

    The Kinetic Negvhar has around a 20+ turn rate IIRC when it has 2 RCS consoles equipped and moderate engine bias settings. This turn rate and speed not only give you the ability to keep up with your faster team mates, but also provide you the unique ability to torpedo someone into sweet oblivion.

    Torp Crits, particularly transphasics are quite good, even for non tacs (infact my sci doesn't even have torps ranked and she often scores around 10k crits still with her torp spread 2s, and that is with chroniton torpedo upfront)

    Just bind the torps to your space bar and with the 2 torp doffs equipped let em fly.

    Between this, and the optional warp plasma runs, your going to be pleasantly surprised by your damage out put at the end of a given match.

    You'll also enjoy the superior durability that comes with the negvar over the raptor. And your team mates will love you for the spot heals you can easily throw, while still beating the bloody snot out of people, particularly with torp spread and HY up.

    Well, Can't say I'm deaf to the idea of flying a cruiser but rolling a TAC toon seems to be more of a chore than I imagined AND I've become quite fond of my Raptors ability to shred AI in seconds and have the heals to stay in the fight. Sadly PvP is a different world and I already realize my toon/ship can't hang in PvP, but it's incredibly hard to walk away from APO3 and all the purple Mk XII AP gear I'm carrying. Tell ya what, lemme post my build then you can see if I have room to tweek than scrap everything and start over.

    Posted build (post #6) but totally forgot to list abilities, got engineering fleet, evasive, miracle worker, rotate shield freq, and nadion(IIRC).

    Can I be viable PvP without rerolling toon and scrapping ship/weapons ?

    Ditch Quantum chamber for 4th energy console. Put a Field Generator in one of your sci console slots.

    Get an Omega Deflector, and shield. (you'll have to use RSF abit more frequently with it) Borg Engine. This gets you the tet glider which will also help your ability to remove shields.

    This build is pretty much a straight alpha strike build. Personally I'm not a fan of blowing your load all in one swing, but your an eng.. and thus your spike damage is going to be pretty sorry if you have straight cannons, and a DBB or Torp. So you're best bet is to pull a minimax and just swing as hard as you can and as often as you can.

    Change doffs to 2 Blue or better Shield Distributions, (actually might as well go for 3 in a Raptor) and then 2 Hazard doffs.

    I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to eval my build Mav, and I'll make the changes you suggest. I am rather 'trapped' with this as I don't yet have the resources for a major rebuild, and my fleetmates don't PvP very much so I find myself alone most of the time on these maps and being a healer without a team to heal just doesn't sound like realistic idea. As the thread title suggests I will be creating a PvP specific toon, but to level it up and equip it is time consuming with the current bind restrictions and I want to join the PvP'ers as soon as possible before PvE completely destroys my interest in the game.

    In case you're reading this mav, I've purchased the equip but have yet to install on my ENG toon as I hate to disrupt the awesomeness of my little dilithium grinding machine. I've bought a subscription and rolled a KDF TAC toon last night, with traits that should be good for PvP.

    I'd ditch ET1 for EPTS1. And probably ET2 for EPTS2. :)
    Also pick one. DBB or a Torp :)

    If you go with the DBB, I would ditch target engines 3 for BO3 or APO1.
    I would put CRF3 in the commander spot as it's damage buff is incredibly potent.

    Remove THY2 for BO2 and lose CRF1 for APD1.

    Or if you go Torp
    CRF3, CRF2, THY2, Torp Spread1
    APO1, THY2 TT and TT your ensign

    EPTS1 and 2 on the eng slots.

    Engi's shuld make nice damage per second spike cruisers instead with 2x beam overload its what they are made 4 with EPS and nadion kkchnk

    NERF CANNONS - THEY NEED A 50% NERF
    CRUISERS NEED A 206% HULL BUFF

    Ya, the nadion comes in handy for breaking the Breen cruiser 'suckin the life outta my shield' maneuver- IF he lives that long. But as previously stated NUMEROUS times ENGies don't spike damage like TAC's do, and I've come to believe it- my ENGie Qin with purple mk11 AP is only marginally quicker killing than my TAC Pach with white mk11 disruptors, and the Pach captain isn't spec in ANYTHING above capt level where the engie is specced to adm.

    Go figure.
