The latest expansion has brought upon new changes in the game that includes an update to skills for all classes.
Much like in my previous thread Demon Redstone Venomworm assessment, I'll be reviewing one of the new Venomancer skills. This time I'm writing about Grudge Strike which is a merger of Befuddling Mist and Fox Wallop.
Requires Fox Form Range 5 Meters Mana 160 Cast 1.0 seconds Cooldown 3.0 seconds Chi Gained 10 Weapon Unarmed, Magic instrument
Requisite Cultivation Aware of the Myriad
Attack all enemies in front of you with a flurry
of blows, dealing base physical damage plus 5055.
Lowers the targets' Accuracy by 70% and increases
their channeling time by 35%. Also increases
cooldowns by 125% for non-player targets.
Lasts 8 seconds. Never misses.
Sage version increases channeling time by 50%. Demon version generates 20 Chi.
Requisite CultivationAware of the Myriad Delivers a powerful melee attack, inflicting base physical damage plus 3059.0. Reduces target's channeling and casting speed by35%
Requires20 Chi and Fox Form.
Sage version has a 50% chance to cast without consuming Chi. Demon version gives a 20% chance to make all hits critical for 5 seconds.
Please keep in mind that this is my personal opinion/assessment and experimenting. I tried to be objective but it's still going to be what I think.
The skill description is quite messed up for this skill. What it actually does are the following: ~On monsters and any non-player target. Applies 70% accuracy debuff, applies 35% channeling debuff (50% if Sage). ~On players in PvP and any player target. Applies 70% accuracy debuff, applies 35% channeling debuff (50% if Sage), applies 125% attack rate debuff.
The Assassin in the video that I tested with had 2.86 attack rate and 11480 accuracy with the gear they were wearing when I recorded. Fossilized Curse's 100% attack rate debuff and 300% acurracy debuff changed those values to 1.43 and 0 respectively. Grudge Strike's debuff changed those values to 1.25 and 7341 respectively.
The damage increase is noteworthy in PvE but probably negligible in PvP. I didn't do enough tests for this though, perhaps it's not too bad on AA targets with low physical defence. HA and, perhaps, LA builds should enjoy the damage increase. My physical attack when testing was only 6.6k-7.2k unbuffed.
Grudge Strike is frontal AOE only.
In the case of the Demon version, note that the skill does not calculate Befuddling Mist's original chi gain which was 10. Unlike Demon Crush Vigor that includes both its original chi gain (10 chi) and the Demon bonus (100 chi if it procs), Grudge Strike is only 20 chi. I was a little disappointed in that matter~
Reasons to upgrade to Grudge Strike. ~More Damage. It's mostly beneficial for PvE. It's most effective on HA and LA builds but it's still pretty decent on AA builds. ~Another attack rate debuff for PvP. It's not as effective as Fossilized Curse altogether since the 70% accuracy debuff is nowhere near as strong and the duration is just 8 seconds but if you happen to be in Fox Form you might as well throw it in. I can see work mostly against Archers that heavily rely on auto-attack and DPS, probably works best in group PvP scenarios. I don't think I'd use it much in 1v1 unless I had room for it. ~Chi gain. If you're Demon...well some bits of extra chi to gain which you might as well get. The 20 chi is pretty low but the cooldown of the skill is fairly low too. You can spam the skill and build chi faster, along with Crush Vigor. It would probably work best once you have Dark Taboo too. You will need a target, NPC or player. ~Hardly anyone uses Fox Wallop. I'm not aware if HA/LA builds that use Fox Form attacks a lot, use Fox Wallop frequently (I didn't use it much on my HA Venomancer because of the chi consumption) but most people I know don't really use that skill so....might as well merge it.
Reasons to keep Befuddling Mist & Fox Wallop. ~You use Demon Fox Wallop regularly (for Crit proc). I think it's self explanatory.
