EVENT: Calendar Creation Contest - APRIL!

Yep, it's that time again. Time to get creative! and artistic! perhaps a bit funky! but definitely spunky!

For Round #3 of our Calendar Design Contest we've once again provided a Creation Kit that will help you get started. For April, think happy Easter thoughts (sunny springtime, easter eggs, etc)!



To participate here's how it works:

1) Begin by downloading our calendar kit for March 2009 here:

This zip folder includes the background calendar template, a sample calendar design, and a number of stock pictures you can use.

2) Load the background template into the image manipulation software of your choice (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, MS Paint, etc.) and jazz up our background template in any manner you see fit. Examples include: using screen captures of your in-game characters, real life photos of yourself (keep it clean!), images found on our website, self created elements, etc, etc, etc. Just be creative! The stock images included in the calendar kit are a great place to start, but feel free to find other sources of inspiration!

In fact, if you are bold enough, you are not required to use our provided image background. All that is required is that your designs include a calendar grid for the month of April 2009, along with the PWI logo and/or website URL. Keep in mind that judges are usually partial towards designs that encompass the theme of the month - in this case vibrant hues that conjure up the feeling of Spring warmth and a smattering of Easter imagery will certainly earn you a point or two of kudos.

3) When you feel that your calendar is up to par, email your image file to: events@perfectworldinc.com. MULTIPLE submissions are allowed so don’t be afraid to take risks!

In your email, please include your in-game character name and server in order to receive your prize should you win. Oh, did we forget to mention prizes?

4) The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 1 at 11:00 am Pacific time. All submissions will be reviewed by representatives from the Community, Product and Design teams here at Perfect World Entertainment, and winners will be announced on Friday, April 3rd!

The Top 5 Designs (based on various criteria such as artistic merit, creativity, humor, expressions, etc.) will be featured on our website and made available for all users to download. These Top 5 designers will also each receive a *drumroll* 'Midnight' Mount as well as universal props for a design well done!

Rules:

- Send your Calendar design to events@perfectworldinc.com by 11:00 am on April 1, 2009.
- Do not resize the dimensions of the background template (we need it to fit on standard monitor sizes!).
- Designs must incorporate a calendar grid for the month of April, along with the PWI logo and/or the URL of our website.
- Files MUST be in .jpg, .gif or bitmap (.bmp) only.
- Do not use characters, locations, or objects from other intellectual properties, (Perfect World elements only!).
- Please keep your designs in good taste. Submissions that are deemed objectionable will be rejected for consideration.

Question: The prize comes as requisite level 10? If so, awesome!
Question 2: The first event had size limitations and I had to reduce the quality of my first entry. I don't see any limitations as to how big the file size can be?

I've just sent in my first April entry (been working on it for days) and was wondering if I need to change it, don't want to miss out on winning because the file size is too big or something...

Midnight is dark and firey. I think the DQ horses would have been better also. They are more Vibrant and Cheerful colors . Matches more with the theme of the month.

You say doing the "theme" of the month will earn brownie points with the judging panel but if you don't do the theme and do something "original" and "creative" then are you still within a fair chance of winning?

I'm gonna do a few, some that are "original" and some that are rather more predictable and "easterey" that way I stand a chance either way.

Well, who'd want a Midnight when you have a black Raptor, eh? Midnights are SO last season.
I'd like to see a choice of horsies. I'd much prefer the prety purple DQ horse.

Nice, but yeah, I dont think its quite as good as your last ones. Maybe lacking something to the sides. Then again I'm never a fan of things that are central lol so maybe its just personal taste.

And Shnuggles would be my perfect prize. b:dirty

Well I wasn't pointing fingers at who's starting arguments. I just said I wasn't going to argue whether or not what you said was sarcastic, because either way it's bitter.

Besides, it's not like no one else knows about the threads you made that the mods deleted complaining about repeat winners and how unfair it is because Semy happens to put a lot of time into photoshopping

Considering I never posted my photoshopping on this forum, I'll let your comment slide about me learning how to photoshop. And hmmmm robot...Robots like to bait people to make them reply angry posts for amusement.

Not to mention where did I say you blamed the winner in question? I said you were bitter. And d'oh I didn't put what you were bitter about, my fault, but I did say posts about repeat winners so I felt it was easily assumed that I was talking about your bitterness that one person won twice. My mistake again, as it was in many other threads. My my I'm a careless person.
