I think the key piece of that is the "IP" comment. Gearbox owns the Borderlands IP lock, stock and barrel, for example. But in the case of the Cryptic games they noted, they will own NONE of the IP. I think the point is that getting those boons built up requires massive investments in time/labor/materials by the entire guild. To just flippantly change/minimize the hard earned stats without notice or apparent compensation for the loss of stats on the affected guilds is extraordinarily tone-deaf on the part of the devs.…

So, basically play as an illithid, the main race that uses psionic attacks? Would work better if we had a morality system in the game - play illithid as lawful evil. Never turn your back on THAT guy in a dungeon - might sell you out to any of the bosses for the right price.

Just a guess - but given how much had been invested in staff/salary for the now defunct MtG game, chances are they had some extra hands lying around for a bit collecting paychecks, so maybe they put some of those MtG (and soon to be laid off) artistic folks on the job to make the video.
