Linking account

hello I have a PC account I used to use all the time and recently started playing on ps4 with brother and friends, saw I can link accounts how do I do that, I went through all the steps the game asked me to follow.? or does linking accounts not allow you to play your old characters ? it says I linked accounts and doesn't look like I got any new benefits from it.

    PC and PS4 are different platforms and the game does not let you use characters from other platforms.
