Companion issues

At this moment, there are three things that are constantly frustrating players with companions :

1: Companions take far to long to actually engage in combat
2: Companions run off and fight enemies/target dummies when the player has not attacked them
3: Companion AI decision making

Let's look at the first one: There are many occurrences when the player will engage in combat with an enemy and the companion simply stands back and does nothing. It does not engage for several seconds. This is frustrating on a number of levels; lack of combat advantage, no Companion's Gift, not proccing mount bonuses etc

2: Companions are running off and engaging mobs/enemies/target dummies when the player has not engaged that mob and that mob has not engaged the player either.
. Several examples of this behaviour include:
. Standing in Chult on the docks and using a VIP Banking Portal. A random player (not in a group/party) attack a target dummy. The companion rushes off to join the fight causing me to be kicked from my banking portal.
. Standing in an area where mobs are in the vicinity. The mob has NOT engaged the player or companion, the player had not engaged the mob. The companion again rushes off and attack the mob for no discernible reason.

3: When in a fight, the companions decision making is somewhat infuriating, too many times do we see the companion attacking an enemy that the player just isn't interested in and not receiving the debuff against the enemy that we are focused on.

These issues cause several player frustrations that they're unable to solve, they can't dismiss the companion once it's in battle. Players who might be trying to perform an action on a node are disrupted due to this. Fights cannot progress the way that the player wants to conduct it due to bad decision making.

A tactical solution would be to perform a quick fix to the delay in companion engagement and incorrectly engaging enemies when the player/enemy have not engaged.
A more strategic solution will be to modify the companion AI to allow the player to set conditions for the companion to engage, who to target and when to not engage.

How about: Companion being un-summoned and you dont notice. Should have a popup stating you dont have a companion. Also cant summon back in combat if you do notice. No quick way to summon as you have to jump thru menus outside of combat and by then your group is spread out
