Castle Ravenloft Chests

I just completed Castle Ravenloft and could not open either of the chests or interact with the loot dropped by Strahd. When I hovered over the chests I just got a "Interacting..." notification and nothing else happened.

    were you dead at the time the boss was killed?

    I was not. I was perfectly alive when the boss was killed.
