New Stronghold Weapons - BoA after crafting

kacezetkacezet Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 199 Arc User

Feedback: The new SH weapons are bound to account after crafting, this heavily limites their availability. Introduce some kind of tradeable armaments for new weapons, simillar to the old ones.

This does seem to be quite at counter-purpose with the concept of investing in Masterworks, unlike the previous Stronghold weapon set.

(Plus that whole thing where if your guild isn't high enough level, you can't even work towards this set.)

    One of these is wrong...

Has anyone crafted one? I wonder if it gives an unbound 'container', like the armament from vanilla strongholds.

Why would you have to unlock all professions? Are the mats involved to craft BoA and not tradeable also? Masterwork was intended from the start to stimulate trade, and not intended for one person to have to do it all.

    Somethings missing here.

Technically, would only need Artificing or Weaponsmithing unlocked, depending on class. Other ingredients could be purchased from AH. Still seems odd that they would want everyone to unlock those 2 professions. Especially considering that the Collections window says that the weapon set can be purchased on the AH.

You need new high tier mats from all of the professions. Those mats have to have the new recipes. They are unbound resources from scrolls, but they are new and only on Preview. You won't be able to get them easy, they are in the SKT zones. There is not an army of MW players who work together. There are a few whales who work solo. Them all going to preview and working together constructing the new products just to show everybody how seems a bit wishful.

Oh, you are talking about the difficulty in building these on the ptr. Not all masterworkers work solo. But your point is valid -- it's quite a bit of work to try to make this stuff on the PTR currently (even for fully unlocked teams).

*edit* -- some things that make this more difficult:
    (1) temp SH structures only last 5 seconds, not 24 hours. Some ingredients for the weapons only comes from these vendors
    (2) some new ingredients are found only by farming dungeons, like Spellplague, FBI, Svardborg. These are needed for weapons.
    (3) at-least 1 craftable either has a tooltip error or is missing from alchemy: Rubellite. Raw Rubellite exists as an explorers chart material, but not the crafted Rubellite.

There was a time when everyone who wanted BiS weapons did have to level up one or the other of those professions. In a much more trivial way than Masterwork, to be sure.

The collection UI showing the weapon as purchasable only indicates that the bulk of the entry was copied from the old one unchanged. That said, I still think the BoA weapon is an error. It just doesn't seem in the spirit of Masterwork at all.

I'm pretty sure there will be some sort of thing you can sell on the AH, with extra components coming from the new challenge. The old weapons were only BtA once you actually purchased it from the SH shop.

The way old Masterwork was that you could buy the needed component from the AH, that is, the "Stronghold (insert class here)'s Armament". You then go to the SH shop vendor with the SH (x) Armament) Guildmarks, Seals, and DF Fangs/SH Siege Banners/combo of both, and you could buy one of the weapons.

I really hope there is a quest/challenge/something people can do to upgrade their old SH sets into new ones, even if it requires a material (BoE, hopefully) which can be bought off the AH. Not all of us want to make Masterwork gear and are completely happy with grinding out loadsamoney to purchase the SH Set v2.

Ya, this has to be a mistake.

That's correct, this is a simple mistake. I've informed the designer that built the weapons and this will be corrected before these weapons go live. Their actual intended bind status is bind on equip. Compared with the first tier of masterwork weapons we've removed the intermediary step of needing armaments, you'll be able to sell or trade the finished products directly.

Thanks for the response on this @asterdahl . Can you also take a look at rubellite? The tooltip says it is supposed to be crafted in jewelcrafting, but it's not available after unlocking tier 3. It's the only new craftable thing that I've found to be missing. This is not to be confused with raw rubellite (can be farmed with explorer chart).

    Thankyouthankyouthankyou so much...

By the way @asterdahl, is there any news or confirmation for a quest to "upgrade" our old weapons to the Masterwork v2 versions, even if the player simply bought the old Masterwork weapons?

Even if it's a simple confirm/deny answer, this will be much appreciated...
