ISsue with Gadgeteer weapon skin

I changed the weapon skin and color the Sonic Blaster and Experimental Blaster uses.
The weapon skin and color look how I want them to look in the tailor.
Once I leave the tailor the weapon skin and color are the default ones for the powers, but when I return to tailor they are the look and color I changed them to.

Is there any way to successfully change weapon skin and color?

Just some checklist things:
Make sure you are changing the correct weapon skin (should be called Experimental/Sonic Blasters in the tailor).
Make sure you are using the costume you changed the weapon color on.
Try to re-save the costume (make a minor edit and save it again).​​

Try to set your weapon to different colors than your base costume colors. Not sure if that will work for these specific powers, but I had to do that for minigun to get it to color properly.
