Constructive suggestions on the forum look

cococyacococya Posts: 230 Arc User
Hey guys!
Most of us are displeased with the forums moving house, especially since we had memorized our favorite layouts and functions on the old forums, and things here look mostly like a '90s revival of yahoo messenger.
So, let's give some suggestions to what we would actually like to see and maybe, just maybe some of them are possible and will be changed.
I would personally like:
- subforums to properly hide inside when marked as hidden;
- a different color for new threads, please, as it stands now new threads are only slightly boded with the same white color and I cannot see them properly at all; also, please, for the love of cheesecake, make links show up as a different color altogether;
- buttons for colors, fonts etc. which I know where taken out because of certain exploitable features, please fix the vulnerabilities and bring the buttons back;
- the ability to not getting booted to the main page of the forum when marking a forum or subforum inside a category as read;
- a clear set of rules for the moderators and users, with clear guidelines, since Cryptic's policies are extremely different from other PWE titles (I'm looking at you, Neverwinter, with iron clad rules where you aren't allowed to ask for official answers or comment negatively about the game or you get a giant wall of text telling you what a low life you are in a lawyer-esque manner as opposed to, say, PWI or FW, where we can ask directly and demand certain injustices/ questions/ clarifications or bugs to be fixed or answered without fear that our mods will take the naughty stick and slap us);
- a different font/color/lay-out for categories and game forums vs. their subforums and threads, as it is now it's extremely dull and tiring to go through.

I end my series of thoughts here, for now, and I ask if everyone else has suggestions that don't include troll 'let's move back to the old forums' , but to improve what we were forced to have here, instead, to please add them so we can let someone know how to make out transition better.

    Better font / background color contrast.
    No animated gifs.
    Sig size restrictions.
    How about allowing themes?
    Less restrictive naughty word filter.

    That's all I can think of at the moment.

    The pages are still there. They turned their display to none though. You have to inject this.
        display:block !important;

    This is my current CSS injection in full, if anyone's interested. (Highlight to read and copy it. After injecting this, you will be able to see the codeboxes quite easily.)

    (I'm going to keep editing this post. So keep checking up every so often.)

    I'm going to keep a log of changes I've made. Each new line is a separate edit I've made. So if this changes, then the above was changed.
    1. Added codebox hover-over outline
    2. Added post hover-over outline for helping eye focus
    3. Changed eye focus rule constraints to cover discussion message as well as comments
      .DataList .Item:hover -> .MessageList .Item:hover
    4. Made various changes to previous settings, so they need to be overridden now
    5. Made avatar area prettier
    6. Made numbers on lists "popout" more
    7. Improved quote distinguishability
    8. Made changes to signature area
    9. Made forum thread lists less dull and lifeless
    10. Fixed first post avatar area
    11. Made small change to comment-info area (section -> .Comment .CommentInfo)
    12. Removed red post edited message. (section -> div.PostEdited)
    13. Fixed Flag/Quote box for first post in discussion only (rule change)
      .Reactions -> .Discussion .Item-BodyWrap .Reactions, .Comment .Item-BodyWrap .Reactions
    14. Changed quote block rules
    15. Changed avatar display size to be dynamic instead of fixed
    16. Added dblazen1 fix and slightly changed flag/quote line height so that it feels more even
    17. Re-added max-width for avatars. Don't know how that got removed.
    18. Changed max-height to 125px.

    It does a MASSIVE job of making things much better and drastically improves the aesthetics of the forum to something that's bearable.

    Just on a side note for the Unread Thread color suggestion: If you look on the left side as your hover over a thread, Blue means it has posts you haven't read, Yellow means you're up-to-date, and Red means that it has a recent new post.

    Not sure how many people are going to notice it, but it's there. :wink:
