Good question. I could look for an official way, but the current quickest way is to remove any "perfectworld.vanillaforums.com" cookies. Also be logged out of Arc Games/PWE Site.

So uh, yeah, quirky thing here...um...just how does one logout? I don't see it anywhere.

    1. Go to www.arcgames.com/en/forums
    2. Click on your forum name in the upper right.
    3. Click on "Sign out".

And there's part of the rub, yeah? If here at the forums from perfectworld.vanillaforums.com instead of www.arcgames.com/en/forums; then none of that's there.

    Thanks.

edit: That also appears to have been the step I was missing for the avatar updating from Arc to Vanilla...lol.

And there's part of the rub, yeah? If here at the forums from perfectworld.vanillaforums.com instead of www.arcgames.com/en/forums; then none of that's there.

The integration between arcgames.com and perfectworld.vanillaforums.com isn't really seamless. I can see seams everywhere. For example, it's possible to be logged out of arcgames.com and yet still log in to perfectworld.vanillaforums.com. The only way to get out of that state is to log back in to arcgames.com, go to www.arcgames.com/en/forums, and then log out again.

EDIT: OK, I found another way to get out of that state. Go to

    http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/entry/signout

That's only if you are logged in to perfectworld.vanillaforums.com, but logged out of arcgames.com.

I think they have bigger problems right now though. Firefox doesn't accept the SSL/TLS certificate from arcgames.com. And some people are getting an SSL error stating that their browser and the server have no cipher suite in common.

Did you know that you can log in with your email address? I've tested it only with arcgames.com, but I think it also works with Arc itself. It's funny how they won't let our forum name be the same as our login because "it's a security hole", but they share our email addresses, which can function as logins, with Vanilla Forums and Disqus. You can also log in with your Facebook account. I don't have a Facebook account to test it with, but I wonder if that introduces any security holes.

    Hrmm, yeah...it's definitely quirky.

From the profile section, say I click the link for Notifications...

    The link is: http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/profile/notifications
The page taken to is: http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums#/profile/notifications

If I click Home from that page...

    The link is: http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/
The page taken to is: http://perfectworld.vanillaforums.com/

Some links say one thing but keep you inside arcgames. Other links take you to where they say, removing you from arcgames.

Somebody f*ing explain to me how to get animated avatars im uploading all kinds of gif images and non of them work
    nrglg wrote: »
You have to upload them through you Arc account. Delete your Vanilla forums avatar and then go and add the animated gif avatar to your Arc account.
    Thanks
So...I've tried this several times as others have mentioned similar steps elsewhere...and each time it has failed.

    On Vanilla

    1) Go to Profile.
    2) Go to Preferences.
    3) Go to Change Picture.
    4) Click Remove.

    On Arc

    1) Go to My Account.
    2) Upload a custom profile picture.

    On Vanilla

    1) Enjoy animated avatar!

Only...it's not there. No avatar there at all.

Thing is, it's not even just that it does not work with animated avatars - it doesn't do anything with any avatar if I go that route. I can drop out a static avatar going that route and Vanilla does not update to show it.

So what magical/mystical step am I missing here?

The missing step is in needing to access the following page to force the avatar update.

    http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums#

    Thanks, frtoaster.

Yeah, the plethora of things that were ignored while they addressed the fluff instead...meh.

Just a random post to check my signature is working - missing the preview of it from the old vbulletin.

Hrmm, this is kind of interesting (likely not to be, but hey - it's all a stretch at the moment)...

    As I type this:

    Discussions: 2
    Comments: 25

So the Posts count includes the combination of Discussions and Comments. Course, that "Discussions" there appears at first to just threads created. I created a thread about Notifications, so I'd expect it to be 1 instead of 2.

I went through and checked a couple of other things that might fall under "Discussions"; and neither of them incremented either the Discussions or Posts count. Those two were doing a "Discussion" message with another poster and posting on their "Wall"...neither incremented any count.

Trying to remember what else I might have done, since only the single thread that I created shows when I go to Discussions; I remembered!

    I flagged somebody's post.

Lol, reporting posts increases post count...shows under the count for Discussions...but does not show under Discussions.

    Trippy...oh well.

Discussions and comments, as best as I can tell, are categorized completely separately. The post that starts a thread is not a "normal" post (comment). So I am not so sure flagging that post (a feature I haven't had occasion to try since a spam post a loooooong time ago before they got the flags working) actually increased your post count.

Maybe the next time you have to flag a post you can specifically watch your post count to see what happens?

Sweeeet. I also notice some of the things I politely called out as unintuitive in my Survival Tips post got addressed/made more obvious too. Seems that some things have improved around here. :)

    Mhm.

Not a fan of having to scroll back up to the top of pages to change page now, though. It's one thing when I can scroll down once but having to scroll down then back up every time has already become rather old.

I'm not sure, but that might not be a hard thing to code in, now that some of the other things have been dealt with. :)

Agreed. I'm also finding this to be unintuitive navigation through pages. I'm going to make a small "jump to top" script and inject it into every page for now. Hopefully they will address it soon enough.

In the meantime, I just realized that hitting the Page Up key means no scrolling. Kinda why such an old-school key exists on the keyboard in the first place!

Major Update: I've moved my style sheets into a repository. All further updates will be there and not here. Link to repo: https://github.com/Goodlookinguy/pwvnrg

The pages are still there. They turned their display to none though. You have to inject this.
    #PagerAfter
    {
        display:block !important;
    }

This is my current CSS injection in full, if anyone's interested. (Highlight to read and copy it. After injecting this, you will be able to see the codeboxes quite easily.)

I'm going to keep a log of changes I've made. Each new line is a separate edit I've made. So if this changes, then the above was changed.
    1. Added codebox hover-over outline
    2. Added post hover-over outline for helping eye focus
    3. Changed eye focus rule constraints to cover discussion message as well as comments
      .DataList .Item:hover -> .MessageList .Item:hover
    4. Made various changes to previous settings, so they need to be overridden now
    5. Made avatar area prettier
    6. Made numbers on lists "popout" more
    7. Improved quote distinguishability
    8. Made changes to signature area
    9. Made forum thread lists less dull and lifeless
    10. Fixed first post avatar area
    11. Made small change to comment-info area (section -> .Comment .CommentInfo)
    12. Removed red post edited message. (section -> div.PostEdited)
    13. Fixed Flag/Quote box for first post in discussion only (rule change)
.Reactions -> .Discussion .Item-BodyWrap .Reactions, .Comment .Item-BodyWrap .Reactions
    14. Changed quote block rules
    15. Changed avatar display size to be dynamic instead of fixed
    16. Added dblazen1 fix and slightly changed flag/quote line height so that it feels more even
    17. Re-added max-width for avatars. Don't know how that got removed.
    18. Changed avatar image max-height to 125px.
    19. Change signature image max width to 500px and max height to 150px
    20. Made links in posts stand out
    21. Quotes are now colorful
    22. Changed forum to fluid width, because why not. Just remove the .Row { } section to go back to fixed width.
    23. Lightened the post color
    24. Changed all posts to have colorful borders!
    25. Changed page numbers to be colorful!
    26. Fixed colorful page numbers so that one could be more intense and another one less intense.
    27. Fixed quote colors so that one could be more intense and another one less intense.
    28. Made avatar borders reflect online/offline status. (Soon I will be separating and moving the grayscale CSS and colorful CSS to a repository. You will be able to use both simultaneously or disable the colorful for a look that reflects the original design more closely.)

The pages are still there. They turned their display to none though. You have to inject this.
Neat, I've begun work on adding proper PWI emotes to the forum so I'll bundle that in if I need to. tiger-9.gif
    Here's where I'm at now: Ij38DfM.png
I'm not sure I like how it covers up the text though so I might move it.

    :O

I quite like that. If you look at the official smiley and all of the other dropdown lists, they cover the box as well. So no big deal there.

Agreed. It's some nice work putting in and doesn't really break things further than the other ones do at the moment.

I use Chrome, so Stylish for CSS and Tampermonkey for JS.

On chrome you can use Stylish to inject CSS or tamper monkey for JS.

Edit: I type too slow. I'll have to add a font color picker too.

        display:block !important;

This is my current CSS injection in full, if anyone's interested.

    }

    .ChildCategories a:hover

Just gonna say thank you now... So much nicer now that I can actually read pages, and having the buttons at the bottom is 100% amazing.

You're welcome. I can only hope PWE sees this and takes into consideration some of the changes I made. The ones that matter anyways. Some of the others were just my personal preference.

    ----
If anyone is using my full injection, note that I just added two more parts to it. One fixes the hover-over colors in the user profile preferences and the other was a constraint for the text boxes, because they were getting too big in my opinion and seemed to have no limit. I added comments before each one so you can easily choose which ones you don't want, if any.

Edit: I updated the codebox displays. I think it's a bit better now.

What did they do to our poor avatars D: they are tiny.

Edit: Don't mind me... trying to find the right cream font:
    Hmmmm...
    Hmmm... must be this one.

Okay, I found my colour again! :D

Could you do something similar with the Quote boxes? I like to be able to differentiate, and it's difficult with how dark the entire forum is.
