    Uggh, I think it might be nearly impossible to get this color picker to look correctly when editing posts. There is a lame CSS rule in custom.css that colors the background of td elements in comments with background: #222224 !important;

I can't manually elevate the importance of the td elements in the picker because it breaks the widget...
I honestly don't see any good solution (let me know if anyone else knows something).

Maybe I can rip the element out of the dom... but that would break a bunch too and is ugly.
I wonder if I can get pwe to take out that !important (that rule doesn't even seem to be used with anything).

It's probably easier just to find another color picker (though this one looks pretty nice tiger-12.gif).

I found that you can highlight the text while [editing your comment] and still use the colour dropdown in the [leave a comment] section at the bottom of the page. Not ideal i guess, but little workaround for now.

normal-1.gif also allowed me to add this 'rather cute' emoticon.

p.s. thanks for introducing me to Tempermonkey for Chrome and your Java injection

didnt allow me to add the above link via the [leave a comment] section though, so there are some limitations. guessing it only allows editing with the components you have added via your coding.

warm regards, and thanks, from an old dog learning new tricks..

I've updated my CSS injection. Links stand out now and signature images have a size limiter.

Note: I'm actually not done updating yet, but I saw someone complaining about links, so I decided to upload this one as soon as I finished it.

Nice, I was going to add a limiter for sig images after I saw an image earlier which was so large it extended off to my second monitor...

More updates to the injection. Quotes are now very colorful. They actually have colors up through a depth of 5. Then it's just slightly darker cyan past that point. I also made the forum fluid width, because why not? You can remove it by removing the .Row { } section at the bottom of the CSS.

The subforums look super ugly and hard to navigate. My next mission is to clean up the look of those. They are just awful. I'll try my best. I can only do so much with CSS. I may need to write my own JS injection soon as I've hit a few limitations that I've just ignored, but would like to do.

I just made a huge change to the display of the threads. Some people might like it, some might not. Choose for yourself and give me feedback. I'll also be messing with the subforums list momentarily because I forgot to fix them even though I meant to in this last update.

Bro, you need to add a link to the page in your signature or something. I hate having to go searching for that post every time I see you saying you made a change.tiger-27.gif

EDIT: NICE. I like that you brightened the posts up a tad - makes the forum a little more bearable. Also, like the colors. fox-44.gif

Good point. Not sure why I didn't do it earlier.

Indeed. I wanted to colorize the forums because it was too much grayscale. I like grayscale to a point. It does need some other colors to work with it though, otherwise it's just depressing. Have you seen how stacked quotes look?

Yes, I have. They look terrific, well done!

Can you colorize the buttons for the page numbers? Or is that a set color for all of them?

I don't see why not. Hopefully the :nth-child psuedo selector works on the 'a' tag. As long as it does, I'll be in business.

Very nice. It's looking a lot better now in the threads. Personally I've disabled the fluid width (looks a bit strange on large monitor setup as paragraphs turn into very long lines) and I've gone for a solid black background on the body and quotes, plus italicised text in quotes. Those are just personal preferences though. I love the new coloured borders around posts, makes them much less 'blendy'.

I agree with you that something needs done about the child board setup, so many of the most used boards are now pretty hidden away and harder to locate because they are just small text links as a subnote. But yeah CSS is pretty limited in what it can do to improve that sadly.

    Page numbers are now colorful!

I'm thinking, maybe I should make a repository for the CSS injection like Aster did with their addons. I didn't think my injection would grow this large.

I created a repo for them. What I'm going to do is keep the main one 'grayscale.css' as close to the original forums as possible. Then there is an 'addon-colorful.css' which you can add as an extra CSS injection for the page. That way I can keep the styles separate from one another. It will take me a bit to separate the two and return the CSS back to how it was before, as I did not backup anything...

Haha nice, I'm liking this rainbow theme going on.

I've adapted some of it to the board view. Just playing around with it just now really to try and make it a little less meh. Not sure I'd keep it that exact way, but at least the child boards aren't all blending into each other now haha.

@khamseenair Thank you for providing that. I was able to revert it back and have now separated out the various parts.

    ----
Okay, so at the moment there are 3 different style sheets. You can add them into 3 different style sheets in Stylish and enable/disable them at will for better control over the layout. I'm going to attempt to split out more of my own personal preference type stuff that way it's all selectable in an easier manner.

    - Grayscale (Vanilla Style)
    - Colorful (Gives that rainbow look to grayscale)
    - Fluid Width (Make the forum full width)

You can get it here https://github.com/Goodlookinguy/pwvnrg

    No problem man.

Good idea on separating them out a bit. I've subbed to it on github so I can keep track of changes and updates a little easier.

Sweet. Added all 3 to Stylish. Makes it super easy with the whole enable/disable at will. Thanks for doing this. Makes it so much easier to read the new forums.

@asterelle I fixed the color picker colors in edit mode. I sent a pull request. It required some tweaking to the color picker you used. So all I did was redirect where the color picker script was being pulled from.

Is there any way at all to use your in-game character names in this forum? Or are you supposed to be stuck with your login name?

Was just speaking about this in another thread. My display name is different to my login name. Though it's been that way for a while so it seems to have ported over like that. Might be worth contacting a CM to see if they can do something about it behind the scenes as there is no way for a user to change their display name.

I don't believe there is a way to change the name, nor do I think PWE is going to offer the ability to change them. We'll see, though - they may decide that certain names need to be changed, or take pity on those with awful usernames. fox-41.gif

I know it's not natively possible in Vanilla (not a lot seems to be), but some of our details come from arc for our profiles (avatar pictures and what not) and the arc client profile page does have a specific field called "Display Name". It's not an editable field for users, but it may be for admins. I know that when I decided to change my forum display name I had to contact a CM and they did it for me. Though that was about 4 years ago now and we were using completely different software, but the facility must exist if it's still pulling my display name from somewhere instead of using my login name.

Was just speaking about this in another thread. My display name is different to my login name. Though it's been that way for a while so it seems to have ported over like that. Might be worth contacting a CM to see if they can do something about it behind the scenes as there is no way for a user to change their display name.

To fix it so your forum name and in game handle are one and the same, go to https://secure.crypticstudios.com and sync your nick/handle. If your forum name or even handle are at all a security or privacy risk, please file a Support Ticket and let them know. EULA/ToS violations are the only reasons they will change a forum name or in game handle and security/privacy concerns fall into such.

@nrglg We might have a bit of a problem with your CSS injection - Favorited threads appear to get thrown way off-line in the thread view compared to the rest.

I hadn't favorited anything, so nice find. However, that is not my mistake. That is in the PWE's original design. I will attempt to alleviate it if I can.

Edit: I just realized what tehbubbaloo was talking about...

Ah, hadn't turned off the style to check, so my mistake. And yeah, I think he was referring to the same thing.

Bug: Pressing to Quote users and then deciding not to post results in the quotes reappearing in the Leave a Comment text input box everytime you enter the thread again. The only way to stop this (that I could find) is to a) clear cookies/cache or b) make a post to said thread.

That's the post draft auto-backup. In the previous design there was a link to erase your unused drafts, but I forgot where it is and this design doesn't appear to have a link for it.

So I can't manage to get Stylish to allow me to split up the various CSS styles while having them all working. Right now, it's only allowing one of the 3 styles to work, even though all 3 are under the same style, just different "sections"...
